This document outlines the requirements for authors submitting manuscripts to journals published by Factors Academic Press. Compliance with these guidelines is mandatory to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency in the editorial and publication process.

I. Article Types and Length Requirements

1. Research Articles

Full-length reports of original research.

  • Word limit: 4,000–6,000 words (excluding references)
  • Abstract: up to 250 words
  • Figures/Tables: maximum 8 combined
  • References: up to 60

2. Review Articles

Comprehensive evaluations of existing literature.

  • Word limit: 5,000–8,000 words
  • Abstract: up to 300 words
  • Figures/Tables: maximum 10
  • References: up to 100

3. Short Communications

Brief reports of significant findings.

  • Word limit: 1,500–2,500 words
  • Abstract: up to 150 words
  • Figures/Tables: maximum 4
  • References: up to 25

4. Editorials and Perspectives

  • Word limit: 1,000–2,000 words
  • References: up to 20
  • No abstract required

II. Manuscript Preparation and Formatting

1. General Formatting

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt
  • Line spacing: Double-spaced
  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides
  • Page numbers: Required

2. Manuscript Structure

All Research Articles and Reviews must include:

  1. Title Page
  2. Abstract
  3. Keywords (3–6 keywords)
  4. Introduction
  5. Materials and Methods
  6. Results
  7. Discussion
  8. Conclusion
  9. References
  10. Figures and Tables

3. Title Page Requirements

Must include:

  • Full manuscript title (concise and informative)
  • Author names and affiliations
  • Corresponding author (email required)
  • Word count

4. Abstract and Keywords

  • Must summarize objectives, methods, results, and conclusions
  • No citations allowed in abstract
  • 3–6 keywords required for indexing

III. Figures, Tables, and Supplementary Material

Figures

  • Format: JPEG, PNG, or TIFF
  • Resolution: minimum 300 dpi
  • Must include clear labels and legends
  • Submitted as separate files

Tables

  • Must be editable (not images)
  • Include titles and footnotes
  • Avoid duplication of data from figures

Supplementary Material

  • Allowed for extended datasets, methods, or multimedia
  • Must be clearly labeled and referenced in text

IV. Referencing Style (Vancouver)

Factors Academic Press follows the Vancouver referencing system.

In-text citation:

  • Numbered in order of appearance
  • Example: (1), (2), (3)

Reference list:

  • Listed in numerical order
  • Must include all authors unless more than six (then use “et al.”)

Example:

  1. Smith J, Kumar R, Lee T. Title of article. Journal Name. 2023;12(3):123–130.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of references.

V. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system.

Authors must:

  • Upload manuscript and all associated files
  • Provide complete author details
  • Confirm originality and ethical compliance
  • Include a cover letter describing the significance of the work

Incomplete submissions may be returned without review.

VI. Peer Review and Revision

  • All submissions undergo peer review by independent experts
  • The review process is confidential and unbiased
  • Authors may receive:
    • Minor revision
    • Major revision
    • Rejection

Revision Guidelines

  • Provide a detailed response to reviewer comments
  • Clearly indicate all changes in the manuscript
  • Resubmit within the specified timeframe

VII. Open Access Policy

All journals under Factors Academic Press operate under a fully open access model.

  • All published articles are freely accessible
  • Content may be distributed and reused with proper attribution
  • Licensing terms will be specified at publication

VIII. Article Processing Charges (APC)

To support open access publication, an APC is applied upon acceptance.

APC Structure

  • Research Articles: Standard APC
  • Review Articles: Higher APC due to length and complexity
  • Short Communications: Reduced APC
  • Editorials: Typically exempt

Additional Notes

  • APC is charged only after acceptance
  • No submission fees
  • Waivers or reductions may be considered in specific cases

IX. Ethical and Compliance Requirements

Authors must ensure:

  • Original work with no plagiarism
  • Proper ethical approval for human/animal studies
  • Disclosure of conflicts of interest
  • Accurate representation of data

Failure to comply may result in rejection or retraction.

X. Data Availability and Transparency

Authors are encouraged to:

  • Provide access to supporting data where applicable
  • Ensure reproducibility of results
  • Clearly describe methods and analysis

Data availability statements may be required for certain submissions.
